Abstract

This study investigated the relationship between sexual satisfaction and marital stability among couples in Calabar South Local Government Area, Cross River State, Nigeria, with a focus on partners' sexual satisfaction, intimacy, and sexual technique as determinants of marital stability. Three research questions and three research hypotheses were developed to guide the study. A comprehensive review of literature was conducted in response to the developed variables. The study was anchored on the Attachment Theory and the Social Exchange Theory. A correlation survey research design was adopted, and a purposive sampling technique was used to select a sample size of 200 respondents. Data obtain from the field was analyzed using Pearson products moment correlation analysis. The findings revealed that partners' sexual satisfaction, intimacy, and sexual technique are significant indicators of marital stability. The study's findings were discussed, and the following recommendations were made: Partners should prioritize improving their sexual techniques, Partners should focus on building intimacy, Partners should prioritize mutual sexual satisfaction, social workers can promote healthy relationships among families through workshops and counseling. The study concluded that prioritizing sexual satisfaction, intimacy, and technique is crucial for building strong and stable marital relationships.
